La Semaine de la Critique all over the world for its 50th edition
In May, La Semaine de la Critique will celebrate its 50th year. Since 1962, La Semaine de la Critique has been unwavering in its dedication to discovering new talent through showcasing directors’ first and second feature films from all over the world. This anniversary gives us the perfect opportunity to pay tribute to all of the filmmakers who made their debuts with us.
All around the world, Festivals and Cinemas have agreed to help celebrate our 50 years of discovery, by presenting tribute series or retrospectives of important films originally selected by La Semaine de la Critique.
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) will kick-off our “tour” beginning March 18th through March 25th followed by over ten different countries who will host subsequent tribute screenings, including;

Le Festival International du Film de La Rochelle (France)
Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)

Festival de Lima, Encuentro Latinomaericano de Cine (Peru)
Festival du Film Francophone de Namur (Belgium)
Mumbai Film Festival (India)
Pusan International Film Festival (South Korea)
World Film Festival of Bangkok (Tailand)
Metropolis Art Cinema in Beirut (Lebanon)
MUBI (a VOD website) will take part of event by programming some films selected at La Semaine de la Critique over the last 20 years. These films will be available from May 12th all over the world on www.mubi.com
In collaboration with the French Film &TV Office of the French Consulate of Los Angeles, the cultural services of the French Embassy in New York and the General Consulate of France in Rio de Janeiro.
