PATIO

After working as a prison guard for seven years, Aly Muritiba knows what freedom means. In Patio, second documentary episode following the drama A Fábrica (which was a success in a number of festivals) of what he calls « a penitentiary trilogy », Muritiba creates over a number of weeks, in static shot, a device that makes the audience feel what daily life in prison feels like, a life in which the only bit of freedom is paradoxically, the prison yard. « The format of the film reflects reality : this is why, on image, there is a fence separating the prisoners living their only moment of freedom and the spectators. »
