Two years ago, Cécile Ducrocq stumbled upon “a service road on which were parked small trucks housing African prostitutes. It was nighttime and they had put candles on the dashboard to indicate their presence to potential clients.” This imagery, used in the film through the eyes of Suzanne, a forty-year-old prostitute who finds herself in competition with other working girls, allows Ducrocq to bring up the economic, social and political issues behind this, through the moving portrayal of this woman, beautifully played by Laure Calamy.
