The title of Laurie Lassalle's film is a borrowed line from the poem Bateau ivre by Rimbaud. This lets us foresee the poetry of the film, only with a slight nuance as the verb “m'ont laissée” (have left me) is feminine, unlike that in the poem. Lassalle's first film looks at two adolescents facing bereavement, first love, the need to escape: “I want to show things that I believe aren't depicted enough on the big screen: feminine desire, the male body, wild animals.” This dreamlike tale is made all the more powerful by the astonishing performances of the two young actors.
