Vincent is a successful actor rehearsing to embody Charles de Gaulle on big screen, just as he starts living alone. Between documentary and fiction, Birth of a Leader accompanies the hero into his discovery of peeling the zucchinis, into choosing between boxer shorts and boxer briefs and his unrest toward womankind. Antoine de Bary films his actors playing grownups with infinite tenderness. But behind Vincent’s witty composure, he reveals the anxiety of a whole generation.
